Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of mechanical systems for Lidar and photonics-based products. This role involves creating enclosures, optical alignments, thermal solutions, and precision fixtures for prototypes, validation setups, and production systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including optics, electronics, and test to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design mechanical components (housings, mounts, brackets, heat sinks) optimized for photonics and optical alignment.
Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for manufacturing using SolidWorks, Creo, or similar tools.
Support rapid prototyping and hardware integration, including 3D printing and CNC fabrication.
Perform tolerance analysis, thermal simulations, and mechanical stress analysis specific to optical systems.
Work with suppliers to ensure DFM and high-precision assembly for optoelectronic modules.
Collaborate with optics, electrical, and packaging teams to meet structural and thermal constraints.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
4+ years of experience in mechanical design for optical, photonics, or high-precision electronic systems.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD); knowledge of thermal and structural simulation tools is a plus.
Experience with Lidar systems, optical alignment, or photonic packaging is preferred.
Familiarity with electronics integration, PCB constraints, and EMI/EMC considerations.
Strong problem-solving, documentation, and collaboration skills.
